Gaps in your smile can make daily activities like eating and speaking feel burdensome. And missing teeth certainly don’t make you feel like smiling. Paris Mountain Dental can ease that care by fitting you with a custom dental bridge. We offer partial dental bridges for one or a few missing teeth, or full dental bridges for a longer string of teeth. The bridge will be made to look completely natural and you won’t have to worry about it moving around.
What Is a Dental Bridge?
Traditional dental bridges are made up of one or more artificial teeth. There is no surgery needed if you have healthy teeth on either side of the space left by the missing teeth. The dental bridge is anchored in place by your existing teeth which are usually topped with a dental crown to keep everything in place.
Implant supported bridges are another option. If you have a longer string of missing teeth, then the bridge is anchored on both ends with dental implants (**link to dental implant page). This type of bridge takes a little longer from start to finish because of the healing time required for the implants. After the implants heal, you’ll receive a dental crown to act as an anchor for the bridge.
How Long Will My Dental Bridge Last?
This depends on many factors including the type of bridge, gum health and oral hygiene. Some dental bridges may need to be replaced after 5 years but some may last 15 years or more. Dental implants are permanent though. If you have an implant supported bridge that needs to be replaced, the procedure is much simpler because the implants are already in place.
